My career looks like a zigzag until you see the thread. Clinical research, then a company I built and ran, then enterprise sales in identity, then product in content security. Every one of those is the same job: understand a system well enough to protect the people inside it, then build something they'll pay for that does it.

I started in clinical research at Oregon Health & Science University, coordinating Phase 3 trials for five years and learning how evidence gets made and how easily it gets contaminated. In 2015 I founded Root Connection in Portland and grew it from zero to a million dollars in annual revenue in two years: fifty-plus client contracts over six years, all sold myself, a marketing engine I built from scratch, crews and vendors to keep on schedule and on budget, and a regulated consulting practice on the side. Running a company taught me the job I still do. Find the customer's real problem, sell the fix, and deliver it.

In 2020 I moved into identity and fraud, and into sales. I was Veriff's first U.S. hire, built its sales development team from one person to twelve, and then beat quota for five straight quarters as an enterprise account executive selling identity verification to financial institutions. At Trust Stamp I was the first North American go-to-market hire, built a $10M pipeline from a flat territory, and wrote the PRD for the deepfake detection API from scratch. That work put me in the room where synthetic media stopped being a curiosity and became an attack surface.

Since January 2025 I've been VP of Product at Deep Media, a content security infrastructure company. I lead product across the platform, from the composable detection and tool layer to Skills and the Guardian investigation agents that hunt digital harms across the surface, deep, and dark web. Deep Media's work is trusted by the U.S. Department of Defense and major technology platforms.

The thread that holds all of it together is a question I've carried since my first company: how do we act with integrity toward the systems we're entangled with, ecological, digital, human, and artificial. Permaculture ethics and platform trust and safety are closer than they look. Both are about designing conditions where the whole system can stay healthy, instead of fighting each symptom after the damage is done.

The rest of the whole person lives on the garden page.

Long bio (300 words)

Ally Madrone is VP of Product at Deep Media, a content security infrastructure company trusted by the U.S. Department of Defense and major technology platforms. He leads product strategy across the full platform: a composable detection API and MCP tool layer, Skills composed from those tools, and Guardian, autonomous AI agents that proactively investigate fraud, disinformation, and other digital harms across the surface, deep, and dark web.

Ally's path into content security ran through identity and fraud. At Trust Stamp he authored the PRD for the deepfake detection API, evaluated internal models against it, and packaged synthetic media detection for financial crime, KYC, and identity fraud use cases, and authoring technical responses to federal RFIs on synthetic identity detection and biometric liveness. He was Veriff's first U.S. hire, built its sales development team from one to twelve, and then sold enterprise identity verification to financial institutions, developing deep expertise in KYC workflows and the operational reality of fraud teams in regulated industries.

He is a frequent educator on AI-enabled financial crime, speaking regularly for the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators and other industry bodies on deepfakes, synthetic identity fraud, and AI-driven social engineering. He spoke at TrustCon 2024 on deepfake detection, and his team FaceLock won the Safety by Design Trust & Safety Hackathon in 2024.

Before tech, Ally founded Root Connection, a scientific research and horticultural design firm in Portland, Oregon, and grew it to $1M in annual revenue. He holds a B.S. in Horticulture on the research option from Oregon State University. The through line of his work is a single question: how do we act with integrity toward the systems we're entangled with, ecological, digital, human, and artificial.
